Marking the end of the month-long UAE Green Festival 2014, the Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai will host the Green Carpet Event on April 16 featuring a gala awards ceremony to recognize those who contributed to its success.
According to General Manager Daniel Mathew, the occasion rounds off a month when the entire UAE embraced the concept of sustainability in a celebratory fashion: “In keeping with our green ethos at the Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai, we are delighted to play host to the Green Carpet Event that will bring together all who made this campaign a true success.”
“The success of the UAE Green Festival has been outstanding, highlighting issues such as beach pollution and the need to reduce carbon miles. It included events such as the Green Auto Show that showcased eco-friendly vehicles and technologies as well as the Green Market at Al Qasba in Sharjah where visitors could buy organic products including fresh vegetables, handicrafts and eco-friendly toys – plus four successive weekends of beach clean-ups.”
Both educational and celebratory, the UAE Green Festival was designed to promote the country as a green destination that aims to provide residents and visitors with a cleaner and better quality of life.
Activities focused on Green Shopping, Green Art, Green Fitness and Eco-Fashion, while an additional series of exhibitions and conferences provided a platform to share green knowledge and best practices.
“Being a hotel, we have to make our contribution too, including dimming lights during Earth Hour on March 29th to underline the need to conserve energy, and publicising and practicing green tenets,” said Mr Mathew.
