As autism is a prevalent neurological disorder among young kids, it is naturally expected that all parents and guardians would be asking the question, ‘Is there any autism cure yet?’ With long counseling and training sessions available for the parents of autistic kids, their hope is for some positive developments in their children. As time passes and they see slow positive progress, they start to wonder, ‘can autism be cured at all?’ Autism is not only a brain disorder but affects the body too. Several vitamin deficiencies, mitochondria, depleted amino acids, etc.; all could affect the brain severely thereby causing a disorder called autism. Basically, a child with autism faces difficulty with communication, socializing and response time.
Some early signs or symptoms can give a warning signal to parents about their child’s development status. With regards to communication skills, children who have difficulty in expressing their basic wants, toddlers who are slower than their peers in talking, and who have difficulty following directions or finding things, are all symptoms that your child could be suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or autism. Besides communication, children who lack social skills could also fall in this category. If the child has difficulty making friends, is unable to make eye contact with people around, or is experiencing rapid change in emotions for no apparent reason, like crying suddenly, and laughing the next moment or so, could also be symptoms of impending autism. There is no such thing like a complete autism cure, however with training, therapy and physiological sessions; these kids can have a chance to become normal.
Symptoms could also include constrained interests in playing, like a young child could focus on a part of the toy, rather than the whole toy, like a girl playing with a Barbie doll’s hair only and not the entire Barbie. Older children or adults, in this case, could show preoccupation with a particular object, which would not be the norm for their age, like marbles, or board games. If these symptoms are recognized early on, then with due intervention and behavioral therapy sessions, the question of – can autism be cured at all – could be solved.
There are many ways through which parents may find the first indication of autism. Monitoring the toddlers development is one of the most important tasks that parents have to take to ensure all is well. Any developmental delays observed in the child, compared with his peers, have to be taken seriously, and due action has to take place. It is a well-known fact that prevention is better than cure. Along the same lines, the sooner the child can be given the right help that is better than waiting too long looking for an autism cure.
With regards to children, parents have to take every unusual behavior serious and not wait till the child is older and then wondering can autism be cured at this older age or not. Getting help when a child is still young will most definitely help parents and the children also cope better.
