Calgary hosts the largest spoken word festival in Canada that draws different kinds of poets to various venues in Downtown Calgary.
If you love everything about trains then you cannot miss this model train show, which is the largest of its kind in Canada. It features large-scale railroad layouts with different kind of trains including Lego models for children and some trains made popular on children’s TV shows like Thomas the Tank Engine. The Comic and Entertainment Expo:

This is Calgary’s version of ComiCon with a twist – it’s a festival for lovers of anime held at the University of Calgary during the Victoria Day Weekend. People attend in costume, participate in activities like karaoke and generally just have a good time being the anime enthusiasts they are.
Calgary International Beerfest
Canadians love their beer and Calgary has found a way to celebrate this by hosting and international Beer festival unlike any other in Northern America. You can expect food, entertainment, seminars about beer and award ceremonies acknowledging fine beers and the brewers of great beers in Canada. This is one of those Calgary events no one wants to miss.
Calgary plays hosts to comics from all over to perform for eleven days in the city’s various entertainment venues. FunnyFest’s popularity has grown over the years and it draws comedians from all over the world.
CariFest is Calgary’s idea of Samba Carnival or Mardi Gras. It consists of a series of events that celebrate Caribbean culture and then culminates into a carnival parade that sees people dancing to calypso and reggae down the streets of Calgary from the Olympic plaza along the 8th Avenue south to Shaw Millenium Skate Park.
The Calgary Stampede
This is probably the most anticipated event in Calgary. It is a ten-day event that showcases everything to do with ranching. There is chuckwagon racing, old time horse-drawn rig rides, line dancing and the most important event of all, the million-dollar rodeo. This event is televised to millions of people and draws a whole lot more people into the city in July.
Calgary Folk Music Festival:
This is music festival that lasts four days and features different band and musicians who all perform their versions of folk music on seven stages. It is held in Princes’s Island Park in late July and is one of the best things to do in Calgary, drawing from all over the world to perform and to watch other artists.
