No good gym will throw you into the ring for the first time to spar with someone. In most cases, first-day classes involve instructions on how the gym is operated. Rarely will the first class involve sparring. However, it is crucial to be prepared to sweat during the warm-up workout. Most Muay Thai classes start with a warm-up. This can be jogging, jumping a rope, doing squats, pushups and so on. The warm-up is normally followed by stretching and then your instructor will teach you a few drills and techniques.
A typical Muay Thai class involves shadow boxing, jumping rope, advanced techniques, beginner drills and techniques, intense cardio session and cool down with stretching. A typical class can take one and a half hours. This can be slightly less or more depending on the schedule of the gym. Here are a few ways to prepare for your first class.
Wear gym clothes
During your first Muay Thai class, you should be prepared to sweat more than you have ever sweat before. It is always important to carry an extra shirt and a towel. You will also need to wear comfortable gym clothes when attending Muay Thai Bondi Junction classes. You can get comfortable Muay Thai style shorts. You shouldn’t wear joggers or leggings unless they are made of sweat-wicking material. In most cases, you won’t wear shoes in a Muay Thai class.
Carry a lot of water

You don’t have to waste valuable training time looking for water because you will remain behind in your training.
Show up early
We don’t advise you to arrive on time because you need to show up at least ten minutes earlier than the starting time of your class. This is important as it will help you start a good relationship with your gym instructor. It will also give you enough time to get acquainted before you begin your training sessions. You don’t want to be late for your training. It is disrespectful to your coach and your fellow students.
Don’t eat too much before your class

You should eat one or two bananas one hour before the class. This will give you enough energy and the bananas will help you with cramps.
